Add a comfortable shade to your boat with Birdsall Marine™ Sunshader Carbon Fiber Shade Poles—an easy, economical way to extend coverage beyond your existing top.
Each set includes two adjustable, locking carbon fiber poles that extend from 52″ to 91″ and are available in white, silver, or black finishes. The poles fit rod holders with an inside diameter of 1½″ or larger, making them a versatile option for a variety of boats.
The opposite end of your shade attaches to your canvas top or fiberglass hardtop using specially designed stainless steel hardware, available separately in our Shade Attachment Hardware Kits. “Link on the Bottom of the page” When the shade is removed, only a discreet, quarter-sized mounting disc remains on the top.
Each pole features a Ronstan pulley and clam cleat for convenient adjustment and secure shade tensioning.
Using Your Shade While Underway
Your shade may remain deployed while traveling at slow speeds through low- or no-wake areas, such as the Intracoastal Waterway, provided all support straps are securely in place. Always follow posted speed and wake restrictions.
At speeds above 10 knots (approximately 11.5 mph), wind pressure may cause the shade to flap and the carbon fiber poles to flex, potentially damaging the poles. Support straps are essential to maintain balanced tension between the shade, poles, and the boat’s deck-mounted cleats or padeyes.
Do not exceed 15 knots (approximately 17.3 mph) with an aft shade deployed, or 5 knots (approximately 5.8 mph) with a bow shade deployed—even with support straps installed. Support straps are required whenever the shade is in use.
